Russia issued multiple statements emphasizing Moscow had no ties to the meeting between Donald Trump Jr. and a female Russian lawyer, Natalia Veselnitskaya.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said the Trump administration's alleged connections with Russia are a story fabricated by the US media.
“Every time when we are asked about why your Russian government meddles in the US presidential election, which we have been asked for several months, we would ask in reply: Can you show us at least one piece of factual evidence?” said Lavrov.
Russian Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov on Wednesday said Kremlin has no connection to Natalia Veselnitskaya, according to Reuters.
Veselnitskaya met with Trump Jr. in June, 2016. She told NBC’s “The Today Show” on July 10 that it was Trump’s son who set up the meeting.
She also said she held no negative information against Hillary Clinton.
