Armenia's acting prime minister, Karen Karapetyan, has rejected proposed talks by opposition leader Nikol Pashinyan who says he's the only possible candidate for prime minister. The opposition says it would probably boycott any snap parliamentary election unless parliament made Pashinyan the interim prime minister next week.
The US Senate has confirmed former CIA director Mike Pompeo as Secretary of State. Pompeo, a former Army officer who was a Republican congressman, is regarded as a Trump loyalist. He set off immediately on a trip to meet key allies in Europe and the Middle East.
Thousands of people protested across Spain and outside the Justice of Ministry in Madrid, after a court cleared five men of the gang rape of an 18-year-old woman at the 2016 San Fermin bull-running festival in Pamplona. The court only convicted the men with the lesser crime of sexual abuse.
