An analyst in Beirut says American sanctions and threats against Iran risk accidentally sparking a war.
KAMEL WAZNE DIRECTOR OF AMERICAN STRATEGIC STUDIES "It is the point that we have a proxy war risen to the highest level. It needs just one mistake to have a major regional war."
"When you impose an economic sanction that is going to choke the Iranian economy, Iran said very clearly that any war with us will be very costly and this means American bases throughout the region will be a target of the Iranians or their supporters."
"When you have a deal and it was abandoned by the United States, then the level of trust between thes two entitie is not there and will not be there. Because when a country has an agreement with another country, and you have the Europeans and Russia and China, then you decide not to honor that deal, then on what premise will the Iranians negotiate with the United States?"
