US New Year Concert: Tan Dun leads orchestra performances at Kennedy Center

Chinese classical conductor Tan Dun has led a performance of the Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra at New York's Kennedy Center, as part of Chinese New Year festivities.
The program featured Tan Dun's work for the movie "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" that helped propel him to fame. It also featured Guan Xia's "100 Birds Flying Towards the Phoenix", with suona soloist Wenwen Liu, a 13th-generation inheritor of her instrument's tradition. This was Tan Dun's first New Year concert in the US. He has been named a UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador.
