A US official says Pyongyang told Washington it is prepared to discuss the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula when its leader Kim Jong Un meets President Donald Trump.
US and DPRK officials have held secret contacts recently and Pyongyang directly confirmed its willingness to hold the summit. The US official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, declined to say exactly when and how the communication took place but said both sides had held multiple direct contacts. Questions remain about how the DPRK would define denuclearization, which Washington sees as Pyongyang abandoning its nuclear weapons program.
