Three orthopedic patients successfully received a mixed virtual reality operation on Monday. A medical consultation connecting three cities in China and US was undertaken by doctors in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and, remotely, from China’s Wuhan City and Virginia Tech University in the US. It was described as the world's first operation with remote medical consultations based on mixed reality technology. Under the system, doctors wear mixed reality headpieces and receive three-dimensional medical images, making them feel as if they are in the same operating room.
