People have spoken out against the military action toward Syria, even before it started. Former British Army officer, Major-General Jonathan Shaw, cast doubt on London's narrative of the alleged Syrian government gas attack in Douma, during an interview with Sky News. Take a listen.
SAMANTHA WASHINGTON SKY NEWS PRESENTER "Do you think anything what we've heard from Sergei Lavrov or the Russian Ambassador has made it more difficult for the UK to launch any attack without putting into parliament?"
JONATHAN SHAW FORMER BRITISH ARMY OFFICER "What possible motive could have triggered Syria to launch this chemical attack at this time in this place? The Syrians are winning, don't take my word for it, take the American military's word for it."
SAMANTHA WASHINGTON SKY NEWS PRESENTER "I am very sorry, you have been very patient for us, but we do need to leave it there. I'm very sorry. Thank you very much indeed."
59-year-old Shaw served in the British military for around 30 years. His dissension from the official UK line, which declares that Assad was "highly likely" to be responsible for the April 7th attack, was uploaded to social media on April 13th. Less than 24 hours later, the US, UK and France launched joint strikes. Many angry netizens shared the video of Shaw. One social media user highlighted Shaw's query on why the Syrian government would use biological or chemical weapons if they're winning. Another social media user said the chemical weapons are being used as an excuse to justify military action.
