Daniel Castiglioni is from Uruguay, almost on the opposite side of the Earth from China. Despite coming from such a far-away country, he has faith in the Chinese market and believes that the Belt and Road Initiative will bring new opportunities for Latin American countries.
Castiglioni came to China in 2013. Impressed by Chinese culture and the potential of the Chinese market, he made up his mind to bring quality beef from his home country to Beijing. In his words, China is a place where “crazy things are happening.” He is now building his own beef brand and wants to make it one of the best in the world.
During an interview on CGTN's “The Point with Liu Xin” (@thepointwithlx), Castiglioni said he believes today’s world needs something new and the Belt and Road Initiative can bring about those changes. In his mind, the initiative will stimulate economic growth and create huge opportunities for developing countries along its path.
Regarding the role of Uruguay on the Belt and Road, Castiglioni said it is an ideal country for investment due to its vigorous economy and stable political environment, and it can serve as an entry point through which China can expand its cooperation with other Latin American countries.
In recent years, Uruguay has seen growing trade cooperation with China and more and more Uruguayan businesses plan to enter the Chinese market.
Castiglioni said he never expected this to happen, but more and more of his friends are asking for his suggestions on coming to China. He is looking forward to seeing a deeper connection between the regions.
