Catastrophic floods from torrential rains in Peru have left an estimated 150,000 people homeless. They’re also putting Peru’s ancient sites at risk.
At least 50 archaeological landmarks have been damaged by heavy rains, including pre-Inca structures dating back 1,500 years. Many of them are located on the country’s northern coast, which has been experiencing a record and devastating rate of rainfall.
