Race for life: rescue operation on toddler in narrow well
[]
A toddler was successfully rescued from a well with an opening just 30cm wide in Jining city, Shandong Province, on Tuesday.
The two-year-old boy was playing in his grandparents’ farmland and accidentally fell into the well. His grandfather held a bamboo pole to hook onto his clothing to keep him from drowning.
The diameter of the well was too small for a man, which meant firefighters had no way to climb in. They had to dig him out.
With fear of not enough oxygen in the well, they worked as fast as they could. Luckily, the boy was successfully rescued and fortunately had no serious injuries.
