The world’s longest road-rail bridge, connecting the southwestern Chinese cities of Chengdu and Guiyang, was linked together on Wednesday.
The bridge is 1,874.9 meters long and hangs over 200 meters above the Yibin Jinsha River, holding a four-lane railroad and a six-lane highway.
Construction on the bridge started in December 2013, and it is expected to be completed at the end of 2019. Upon completion, the journey time from Chengdu, capital of Sichuan Province, to Guiyang, capital of Guizhou Province, will be reduced from 12 to just three hours.
