SCO Summit Gala: Last rehearsal for light and fireworks show in Qingdao

In the coastal town of Qingdao, the final rehearsal has concluded for the light and fireworks show in preparation for the opening gala of the SCO Summit today. Led by renowned filmmaker Zhang Yimou, the spectacle will be captured and broadcast live from 20 camera angles to audiences the world over.
In spite of the heavy fog, the rehearsal proceeded orderly on Thursday. At the head of the creative team is Zhang Yimou, a prominent director known for movies such as Red Sorghum and Hero. The production designer, Sha Xiaolan, has produced the lighting design for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.
To offer an immersive experience, the team has deployed dozens of cameras.

The live telecast will be presented by the China Media Group, the country's leading national broadcaster. Since late March, its production team has made several visits to Qingdao.
