China says it hopes the upcoming meeting between US President Donald Trump and DPRK leader Kim Jong-Un can achieve positive results. CGTN's Hou Na has more from the Chinese Foreign Ministry.
HOU NA BEIJING "China is closely watching the highly-anticipated meeting between the two leaders. When answering questions from reporters on why Kim Jong Un chose Air China to fly to Singapore, a foreign ministry spokesperson said it was requested by the DPRK. The spokesperson also expressed hope for a positive outcome of the meeting."
GENG SHUANG, SPOKESPERSON CHINESE FOREIGN MINISTRY "The international community is paying great attention to the meeting between the leaders of the DPRK and the US. China sincerely hopes that the two leaders' meeting can be held as scheduled and bring positive results, providing a strong support for the process of denuclearization on the Korean Peninsula and a political settlement."
HOU NA BEIJING "Mr Kim told Singapore's PM that the entire world is watching. Mr Trump has called it a one-time shot at peace. Officials from both sides also met on Monday morning for final preparations ahead of the summit."
