Trade talks between China and the United States are continuing. The White House says that Chinese Vice Premier Liu He will visit Washington next week to continue negotiations with American trade officials.
White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders said Monday that negotiators are working on something that they think will benefit both sides. That comes after a high-level US delegation visited Beijing last week. The two sides agreed then to set up a work mechanism to keep close communications. The Chinese foreign ministry said it welcomes Washington's willingness to find a solution to their stand-off. Take a listen.
GENG SHUANG, SPOKESMAN CHINESE FOREIGN MINISTRY "We have noted the White House's statement. That the US is willing to make a consensus with China on trade is a positive sign. It's in the interests of both sides and the world to resolve our differences, deal with friction through consultation, and maintain the healthy and stable development of China-US trade relations."
