To Thailand where an international effort to rescue members of a Thai soccer team has come to a successful end. Hours have passed since the twelve boys and their coach were safely pulled out of a flooded cave, after being trapped for more than two weeks. They're now hospitalized and being monitored. Our correspondent Silkina Ahluwalia has the latest.
SILKINA AHLUWALIA CHIANG RAI "It's been a very tiring but rewarding week for the people that were involved in this rescue mission. You can imagine the last three days, hundreds of crew members including local and international divers worked around the clock to save the boys and their coach that were trapped inside the flooded cave.
The atmosphere here today and last night when they completed the operation is very overwhelming not just for those who were involved in the operation but for us as well, the media that has been following this story for the past two weeks.
The whole world has been watching hoping for a happy ending and they got exactly that last night when all of them were saved. Right now the most important thing is to make sure the boys and their coach are nursed back to health. Doctors say all of them seem to be in good condition but they have taken blood tests, and the results are expected to be out today or in the next 24 hours.
It seems that two of the boys might have lung infection. We don't know how bad it is for now but we expect to hear about their condition later in the day. Other than that, there seems to be no diseases or infections found in any of them. But doctors are still being cautious and they are still in isolation from their friends and families."
