The so-called 10+3 cooperation mechanism, involving Southeast Asian nations, plus China, Japan and South Korea, remains the main channel for cooperation in the region, China's foreign ministry said Friday ahead of the 20th anniversary of the group.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang added the 10+3 mechanism was also an important platform for the construction of the East Asia economic community.
The 15th East Asia Forum (EAF) will be held in Changsha, in central China's Hunan Province from June 29 to July 1 and will center on the 20th anniversary of 10+3 cooperation.
Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Liu Zhenmin will attend, along with officials, entrepreneurs and scholars from ASEAN states, China, Japan and South Korea, as well as representatives from the ASEAN Secretariat.

Over the past 20 years, 10+3 cooperation has withstood two financial crises and become one of the most complete and fruitful cooperative platforms in Asia.
Geng noted that China highly values, supports and actively participates in the 10+3 cooperation. He added China hopes to work with all parties to deepen cooperation in business, agriculture, poverty alleviation, and to cultivate new economic growth in production capacity, media and tourism within the 10+3 framework.
