Over in Europe, Tottenham Hotspur needed to overcome a two-goal outburst from Juventus' Gonzalo Higuain in the opening leg of their last 16 tie. The Argentine put the "Old Lady" in front by two after just nine minutes. The EPL side then dug in and picked up markers from Harry Kane, and Cristian Eriksen to grab a well deserved tie in Turin. The second leg is set for early March at Wembley.
The other game saw Manchester City roll past Swiss-side FC Basel. The EPL leaders coming away with a 4-nil away win. Ilkay Gundogan scoring twice in the victory. Bernardo Silva and Sergio Aguero also getting on the scoresheet. The Citizens were in complete control and led 3-nil after just 23 minutes, and grab a 4-goal advantage into the second leg of their tie.
