Protests against the re-election of Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernandez have turned violent near the presidential house in Tegucigalpa on Friday. Some marchers threw stones at the police and set fires. After police deployed tear gas, former Honduran president Jose Manuel Zelaya was pulled away to safety. At least 15 people were injured during the clash. Hernandez won the presidential election in November, but the opposition alleged fraud and plans to continue protesting through Hernandez’s swearing in on January 27.
