The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) announced to establish a new Economic Development Park in Kangnam County of Pyongyang, Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported on Saturday.
The decision came from the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People’s Assembly on December 21, the agency said, adding that the new economic development park will be set up in the parts of the Koup-ri in Kangnam County, southwest of Pyongyang.
"The DPRK is to exercise sovereignty over Kangnam Economic Development Park," KCNA said.
The announcement was made a day after the United Nation Security Council adopted
new resolution to tighten sanctions against the DPRK.
The DPRK enacted its new Economic Development Zone law in May 2013 and installed 13 special economic zones across the country in the same year in November.
