And as the Communist Party of China turns 97 on Sunday, a time to take stock. One expert says that while the party is navigating through some difficult days, it will emerge stronger. He also says the lessons the party has learned can also provide great insight to other countries. CGTN's Sun Ye has the report.
The CPC has led the country to become the world's second largest economy. But one expert says that with unprecedented growth comes unprecedented worries.
YU WENLI, DEPUTY DIRECTOR SCHOOL OF MARXISM, PEKING UNIV. "Whenever a new power arises in the world order, existing superpowers will try to contain it and hold it down. The trade frictions with US these days is a manifestation of this. We call it the Thucydides' trap."
That could trap China's growth if not handled well. But Yu says the party already has its own experience in dealing with challenges which means things are in good hands.
YU WENLI, DEPUTY DIRECTOR SCHOOL OF MARXISM, PEKING UNIV. "For issues both externally and internally, the CPC has a governance style that champions incremental, progressive solutions. It champions the way of moderation, which allows for both trial-and-error, as well as continuity."
He says this governance style, as well as the CPC's "people-centered" approach are the key to understanding China's feats.
SUN YE BEIJING "The CPC has helped nearly one-fifth of the world's population to better lives. It's done well in economic growth, social stability and poverty alleviation. These are the things other ruling parties are watching out for."
The CPC also shared its insights on growth with political parties from other countries including a session in May on the growth tactics of 4 decades of opening up reform.
SERGEY ZHELEZNYAK, DEPUTY SECRETARY GENERAL COUNCIL OF THE UNITED RUSSIA PARTY "China's achievements over the past 40 years through reform and opening-up are truly remarkable, and they have answered many questions."
Yu, the leading expert on the CPC, says the party has always worked on the grounds of "equality and mutual benefits" with others -- another tried and proved true of ensuring constant growth in a volatile world. Sun Ye, CGTN, BJ.
