A number of Chinese film producers have been striving in recent years to accelerate the development of the country’s arthouse cinema in terms of production, distribution and screenings.
Despite being the world's second largest film market in terms of box office revenue, arthouse movies from China have long struggled to strike a chord with international moviegoers.
But after a number of recent high-profile successes, it looks like that is all about to change.
