2019 NPC & CPPCC Sessions: First deputy passage interview highlights development plans

The very first NPC deputy passage interview was held Tuesday morning prior to the opening meeting of the 2nd session of the 13th National People's Congress. Eight NPC deputies answered questions from media at the passage interview area, touching upon some of China's major development plans. Tang Bo has more.
The first day of China's NPC Session brings with it lots of questions for the nation's top legislators.
Chen Gang, Secretary of the CPC Party Working Committee of Xiong'an New Area was among the first to answer.
When asked about the development of the new area in Hebei Province, Chen said the area's overall planning is complete, except for its construction.
CHENG GANG, SECRETARY XIONG'AN CPC PARTY WORKING COMMITTEE "We will adhere to open and market-oriented approaches when building the new area, and make full use of market forces in allocating resources based on the rules of urban planning and construction."
The Greater Bay Area plan, another of China's major development projects, also came up.
The vice-governor of Guangdong Province, along with deputies from Hong Kong and Macao, sang the area's praises.
LIN SHAOCHUN, VICE GOVERNOR GUANGDONG PROVINCE "Hong Kong and Macau enjoy a high level of marketization and openness which will help Guangdong Province deepen its reform and enhance its opening-up. At the same time, the large market in the Greater Bay Area will provide Hong Kong and Macau with more development opportunities."
Representing China's grassroots populations, deputies from Southern China's Hubei Provinces and Chongqing Municipality talked about livelihood projects regarding environmental protection and poverty alleviation.
TCL Group CEO Li Dongsheng talked about leveling the playing field of competition for all sorts of business, including in the private economy.
