A curling exhibition tournament was held in Beijing yesterday. The contest is seen as practice for the Chinese squad ahead of the 2018 Winter Paralympics.
Following the exhibition, eight to ten curlers will be selected for further training and the final roster for the national teams will be decided in February.
A total of seven teams have participated in the tournament, including 19 members from the national team and two from Beijing rinks. Visiting teams from South Korea and Russia also attended the contest with their main squads.
The competition will run for four days and play out as a single round-robin tournament.
After the competition, 8 to 10 curlers will be selected and travel to Canada for further training in January.
"The purpose of this invitational is mainly to assess how the national team has been training during previous events, and to make preparations for the final Team China selections. I hope they can perform well at the Pyeongchang Winter Paralympics," said Chinese coach Li Jianrui.
