US Defense Secretary James Mattis has met with South Korean Prime Minister Hwang Kyo-ahn, who is serving as acting president. Mattis reassured the leader that the alliance between their two nations remains strong. The two sides also discussed efforts to curb the Democratic People's Republic of Korea's (DPRK) nuclear program, and deploy their own missile defense systems.
