The Chinese Art Film Festival has opened in Tokyo with a film entitled "In Pursuit of the General". The movie is adapted from a popular Chinese Peking opera. Ding Siyue tells us more.
The movie tells the story of statesman Xiao He and military general Han Xin in the era more than 2,000 years ago.
The 3D version of the film took home the audience award for foreign-language film at the 10th Okinawa International Movie Festival in April.
TENG JUNJIE, DIRECTOR IN PURSUIT OF THE GENERAL "Many Japanese people know this story. It is mentioned in their textbook. So we have a good cultural foundation for displaying this movie in Japan."
The movie stars master Chen Shaoyun, the descendant of the Qi school of Peking Opera.
Director Teng Junjie hopes that his movie will bring more people to love and go enjoy Peking opera.
