At least 11 people were beheaded on Wednesday in an attack on a checkpoint controlled by forces loyal to military commander Khalifa Haftar in central Libya, according to a spokesperson for Haftar who blamed ISIL.
The incident happened in the Al-Jufra area about 500 kilometers south of the country's capital, Tripoli.
"The terrorist group IS [ISIL] attacked Al-Fag'ha gate in Al-Jufra this morning, slaughtering nine soldiers and two civilians," spokesman Ahmad al-Mesmari tweeted.
No one has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
