China's educational industry has become more open, echoing Chinese President Xi Jinping's guidance on more cooperation with other countries, and higher numbers of exchange students. CGTN's Chuck Tinte has more to tell.

KATE, INTERNATIONAL STUDENT TSINGHUA UNIVERSITY "I feel that China and Tsinghua University have become more international in recent years. That's why I chose to learn environmental engineering here."
Kate comes from Australia. She plans to work on drinking water safety back home after graduation. Compared to old times, when international students choose China as the country to study in, their purpose is not only to learn the language, but also science, agriculture and engineering.

Last year, the number of international students was around forty-eight thousand. The growth rate has remained steady at ten percent for two consecutive years.
So far, China has established educational cooperation agreements with one hundred and eighty- eight countries and regions. Forty-eight countries and regions have signed the higher education degree and diploma mutual recognition agreement to further boost this cooperation. Chuck Tinte, CGTN.
