Apple’s “future” device iPhone X priced so high makes people live in the present flinch.
Chinese tech giant Huawei’s CEO Richard Yu posted on his WeChat Moments saying iPhone X is “overpriced” and Apple may see this as “an effective way to drive up sales."
But the strategy does not seem to raise people’s craze for Apple's new handset this time. Originally priced at 8,388 yuan in China, iPhone X saw a 200-yuan drop by private retailers on China’s major e-commerce site Taobao just days after
its release. Apple's iPhone 8 is experiencing even more dramatic price drop as high as1,000 yuan on Taobao.
Retailers say the price cut is due to the lack of demands and are hoping to clear the stock with the discount.

Those that do want the phone are either taking advantage of the price drop or waiting for the Double-11 sales on November 11, China’s equivalent of Black Friday or Cyber Monday.
But many users on Chinese social media Weibo are arguing that “The higher the price, the better the quality.” Some also reported smooth experience using the new device, but this does not stop other customers and Apple’s rivals taking the change to slam iPhone X's price and also some of its features.

China’s smartphone brand Xiaomi did the math and listed 12 Xiaomi products combined that people can get with the cost of one iPhone X. The products include Xiaomi’s
latest bezel-less phone Mix2, the 32-inch Mi TV 4A, Mi Robot Vacuum, Mi Air Purifier 2, and Xiaomi’s watch, Mi Band2 and more.
In Yu’s WeChat Moments post, the Huawei’s top manager criticized many iPhone X features – the bezel on either end and the “
bangs” on the top for being weird-looking, the camera on the back, bulky, the Face ID, reacting slowly, and the extra swipe to unlock the phone, annoying.
The “hammering” noises can be heard outside China too.
Korean tech giant Samsung followed its tradition to bash its US rival and slammed many generations of iPhone in its newest commercial.
In the one-minute video Samsung mocked iPhone 3GS for its lack of storage space, the iPhone 5s for not supporting a stylus, the old versions of iPhone for not being water-resistant, the iPhone 7 for its lack of a headphone jack and lack of support for wireless charging, and the new iPhone X for its bangs-like cutout on the screen. In the commercial, the Apple lover finally switched to Samsung after a 10-year “struggle.”
