China's First Lady Peng Liyuan is well-known for her goodwill work, and has a special relationship with children.
In 2013, during a visit to Costa Rica, Peng Liyuan met five-year-old girl Marianne, who cuddled up to her at a coffee plantation. When they parted, she gave Marianne a toy panda, which the girl now uses to help her sleep.
The diplomacy of Peng Liyuan shows the soft power of China.
As the WHO Goodwill Ambassador for HIV/AIDS, Peng Liyuan held a young AIDS orphan in her arms in Congo. This image of her supporting the baby's back, left an impression, showing her grace, warmth, love and tolerance.
