In early Saturday morning, 18 vehicles were set ablaze in southern Chile. The trucks which were used to transport food had been set on fire at a parking lot near the southern city of Temuco. The fire also destroyed a shed, which was located next to a fuel pump.
In the early hours, two armed hooded men arrived at the premises of the company Sotraser, which provides services to the forestry industry. The men intimidated the security guard and began to set the trucks ablaze with torches.
Evidence linked the fires to Mapuche land claims dispute. The land dispute between Mapuche and state and private companies in the Araucania region.
