A robotics team of Afghan girls arrived at the opening ceremony of the FIRST Global Challenge in Washington over the weekend to a hero’s welcome.
Six Afghan girls were initially denied their places because of the strict US visa policies, however US President Donald Trump made a special intervention to help approve entry to the US for the robotics team.
They will compete against entrants from more than 150 countries in the three-day high school competition.
The girls say they want to show the US what young people from Afghanistan can achieve.
