Chinese police have captured 3,317 fugitives from over 120 countries and regions in the past five years, the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) has said. The Fox Hunt campaign targets suspects who fled overseas to avoid answering for alleged economic crimes. Inter-agency cooperation and new technology have boosted efficiency in dealing with cases. By the start of 2017, a total of 1.48 billion yuan of illegally-acquired money has been recovered from overseas. Public security departments across the country have also enhanced clampdowns on illegal private banks, uncovering 1,250 cases since 2013.
