2019 marks the 45th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Brazil and China. And Brazilian Vice President Hamilton Mourao is in China for a six-day visit. CGTN's reporter Jia Jiabin spoke to him about Belt and Road Initiative and more.
HAMILTON MOURAO VICE PRESIDENT, BRAZIL "Well, about this question of One Belt One Road, in Brazil we have a vision. We call it a vision of expectations. We focus on the visions that the Chinese Government has, and on the final intentions. We welcome this with great expectations, with a positive agenda on it. And now, we are waiting to see what the Chinese Government's proposals are, in relation to the Belt and Road Initiative.
Latin America is a bit far from China, but we can see that some investments in infrastructure, especially those which benefit both countries, can be good for the exports of Brazilian products to China, and also good in terms of Brazil's current needs.
Therefore, at the moment we have a vision of expectations and are waiting for deeper conversations in connection with the Belt and Road.
However, we still do not have a scheduled plan for carrying on with this. This is a question of finding goals that can really benefit both countries, which I think is the best thing in this kind of relationship between the two countries; a relationship in which China surely wins, and Brazil also surely wins."
