Back here in China and there are potential changes to China's Constitution after the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China proposed new amendments on Sunday. The proposal will then go before the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress. It has received wide support among the Chinese people. Natalie Pang explains the possible changes.
The proposal by the CPC Central Committee comes amid a new era for China. It includes the removal of term limits for the president and vice president. It also calls for the inclusion of the Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. Many are saying this is line with the times, and is necessary for the country's development.

Another eye-catching suggestion is the establishment of the supervision commission as a new state organ. The proposal says the supervisory organ will be listed together with administrative, judicial and procuratorial organs of the State.

The proposal says "the leadership of the Communist Party of China is the defining feature of socialism with Chinese characteristics." It also suggests all state functionaries take a public oath of allegiance to the Constitution when assuming office.
