Jiang Zunyu, a senior official in Shenzhen municipality, south China's Guangdong Province, was sentenced to life in prison on Monday and deprived of his political rights for life for taking bribes.
Jiang took bribes allegedly totaling 32.65 million yuan (6.01 million US dollars) and 46.7 million Hong Kong dollars (5.96 million US dollars) between 1996 and 2014.
Guangdong Provincial Discipline and Inspection Commission had announced Jiang was under investigation on October 24, 2014 for serious rules violations.
