And the host of the documentary, Dr. Robert Kuhn, talked to us about why he took the job. He's an expert on China, and is also the host of our signature documentary series, "Closer to China with Robert Kuhn".
ROBERT KUHN HOST, 'VOICES FROM THE FRONTLINE: CHINA'S WAR ON POVERTY' "When I first became involved with China. Uh, this is my thirtieth year, finished thirtieth year, so it's more than thirty years now. Uh, it's the same motivation to really learn about China, because when I first came here, I knew nothing about China, I never studied Chinese, certainly, or new Chinese culture at all. So, it's a very, very rich learning experience to be in China. So that's the fundamental thing that I've done. I greatly appreciated the opportunities to learn in China and to communicate about China to the world.
Now, China's communication is equal to all other kinds of major activities. And so, I realized that the reason I was recognized is not so much for what I particularly did, although I appreciate that, but recognizing that China's international communications is just as important as building new big businesses or factories for China's future. And so that to me is the fundamental lesson that I learned from that experience. And I'm proud to symbolize it, but I recognize that the honor belongs to China's international communications rather than myself, although I'm very pleased that I'm a representative of that."
