Rocket Lab's 17-meter-long Electron booster, named "Still Testing", took off at 2.45 p.m. local time on Sunday from the Mahia Peninsula in New Zealand and reached orbit eight minutes later. The aerospace company said its first launch from its New Zealand base was a success. The Electron rocket is disposable, and is made of lightweight carbon composite material. It has 3D-printed engines to reduce cost and assembly time.
