Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi called for China and India to promote mutual trust at a press conference on the sidelines of the first session of the 13th National People's Congress in Beijing on Thursday.
“The Chinese dragon and Indian elephant must not fight each other but dance together," Wang said. "If China and India are united, one plus one will equal not only two, but also 11."
Despite difficulties and tests, Sino-Indian relations have maintained their development momentum. In the process, China has not only firmly upheld its legitimate rights and interests, but has also taken care to preserve the relations, Wang said.
He said the common interests between China and India far exceed their differences and frictions. China is ready to inherit and carry forward the friendly tradition with India and make friends and partners with the Indian people. He hoped that the two parties will open their hearts to each other and meet each other half way.
