A museum focusing on China's textile history has opened to the public in Qingdao, a port city in east China's Shandong Province, just ahead of the National Day holiday which kicked off on October 1.
The Qingdao Textile Museum was built on the site of a Japanese textile mill that was established in 1934 – a first of its kind.
Zigzag-shaped workshop set up by a US company in 1933 is also on display at the museum, according to the deputy curator He Hongwei.

The museum covers an area of 170,000 square meters with 19 exhibition halls. It's also equipped with an intelligent guidance system and personalized public service system to better accommodate the visitors.
Visitors are able to learn the entire process of traditional textile production through interactive displays, feel the textile fiber and experience the 3D dressing mirror.
He Hongwei said the museum aims to become a national-level, industrial culture-themed tourism site that combines history, art, fashion, textile technology and leisure.

Qingdao was one of the three original cities of China's modern textile production along with Shanghai and Tianjin.
The museum, which costs 30 yuan per person, is now offering free admission to the public during the eight-day National Day holiday.
