Chinese President Xi Jinping will pay state visits to Spain, Argentina, Panama and Portugal from Nov. 27 to Dec. 5. He will also attend the G20 summit from Nov. 30 to Dec. 1 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. CGTN's Liu Yang has more.
President Xi's first stop will be Spain. The two sides are expected to release a joint statement on trading services and cooperation in financial areas.
Xi's second stop is Argentina, where both countries will issue a joint statement and plan of action for the next 5 years in infrastructure, environmental protection, education and public security. The visit is expected to give a strong boost to bilateral relations.
During his stay in Argentina, President Xi will attend the G20 summit. This year marks the 13th anniversary of the summit and it is the 6th time in a row that President Xi will attend it. Xi is expected to elaborate on important topics and exchange views with other leaders.
The G20 summit this year will focus on the future of work, infrastructure for development, a sustainable food future, and gender equality.
With multilateralism under threat, China hopes to address risks and challenges through collective action and achieve win-win cooperation during the summit. China will also be pushing for reform of the WTO, which it has long supported.
ZHANG JUN CHINESE ASSISTANT MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS "The G20 is not the WTO. The G20 cannot replace the role of the WTO to make decisions on WTO reform. We hope all parties can advance the WTO reform on a consensus-based approach."
On the sidelines of the G20 summit will be an informal BRICS gathering. The rotating chair of BRICS, South Africa, will hold the meeting on Nov. 30th. This will be important for enhancing cooperation among BRICS countries.
President Xi will then travel to Panama and Portugal before heading back to China. Liu Yang, CGTN, Beijing.
