St Petersburg supermarket 'terror attack' injures ten

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Thursday that an explosion that ripped through a supermarket in Russia’s St Petersburg on Wednesday evening was the result of “an act of terrorism”.
The blast, which injured at least ten people, was caused by a homemade bomb packed with pieces of metal.

Nobody was killed and no one has yet claimed responsibility for the explosion that happened at the Perekrestok supermarket in the city's northwest Kalininsky district.
Russian media reported that the bomb had been hidden in a locker where shoppers leave their belongings.

According to Russia’s top investigative agency, the Investigative Committee, the explosive device had a force equivalent to 200g of TNT.

“As of now, it has been established that 10 people were taken to the city’s hospitals with injuries. At the moment, the lives of those injured are not under threat,” said Alexander Klaus, the head of the investigative committee.
