A 6.4-magnitude earthquake struck the waters off Hualien County, east Taiwan, at 21:56 local time (13:56 GMT) on Sunday, according to reports from the China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC).
There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage.
The epicenter was monitored at 24.2 degrees north latitude and 121.72 degrees
east longitude, the center said. The quake struck at a
depth of 10 km.
The center earlier said that a 4.7-magnitude earthquake was
recorded at 21:12 local time in the same region.
