At least 48 people have died in a fire in a shopping mall in Siberia. Up to eleven children are reportedly among the victims. About 16 people are still missing, but officials say the chances of finding anybody alive are slim. On Sunday afternoon, fire ripped through the Winter Cherry shopping center in Kemerovo, some 3,600 kilometers east of Moscow. More than 100 people were evacuated. The flames spread across more than 1,000 square meters in the complex. It boasts an entertainment center for children on the top of the building, a multiplex cinema and a bowling alley that was packed. Some 300 firefighters and rescue personnel rushed to the scene and the fire was brought under control.
