Scandinavia’s first self-driving bus, “Auto Pilot,” is set to launch in Stockholm on Jan. 24. During the six-month trial, the minibus will shuttle passengers up and down a 1.5-kilometer, pre-programmed stretch of road in Kista Science City. It uses “LiDAR” technology – meaning "Light Detection and Ranging" – and an array of sensors to "see" what's around it and safely navigate roads. Spearheaded by operator Nobina, the project might be bad news for Sweden's bus drivers.
