CCTV Sports Personality of the Year nomination ceremony held in Beijing

The nomination ceremony for the CCTV Sports Personality of the Year awards was held on Tuesday with 50 athletes been nominated for a total of ten honors.
In the category of best male athlete, Ke Jie, Su Bingtian, Sun Yang, Xie Zhenye and Xu Jiayu are the nominees. While for women's, top award will be contested by Ding Ning, Fan Kexin, Feng Shanshan, Gong Lijiao and Zhu Ting.

This is the third year in a row that swimming star Sun, table tennis player Ding, and volleyball virtuoso Zhu have been nominated for the best male or female awards. And it is the first time two track and field athletes, Su and Xie, have been nominated for the best male prize. On the whole, track and field athletes received a total of seven nominations.
The nominees released in other categories include: The best combination, best non-Olympic athletes, best team, best mass sports spirit, best breakthrough, disabled sports spirit award, and the best coach.
The final total voting for the awards will be carried out on January 20 and the awards ceremony will be held that evening at the Wukesong stadium in Beijing.
