Egypt announced a reshuffle in top security ranks on Saturday, replacing its military chief, the head of national security and the head of its directorate in Giza.
The move came a week after militants killed at least 16 security personnel in an ambush in Giza province, south-west of Cairo.
The reshuffle is seen as a move to reorganize the country's top security command to improve its battle against militancy.
Egypt has been struggling with ISIL-affiliated militants in the Sinai region. The recent violence in Giza is an added headache for the country.
