Thousands of Palestinians in Gaza marched to the Israel border in a massive protest. It marks 'Land Day' to memorialize the six people killed during a 1976 protest over Israel confiscating land. One Hamas leader told the rally it is time to demand the end of injustice for Palestinians.
ISMAIL HANIYEH HAMAS LEADER "Our Palestinian nation assures today that all the conspiracies that target Jerusalem and preventing the right to return will never succeed. The protest, according to the organisers, all the political parties, and all of the Palestinian parties say, is a peaceful modern protest that calls on the world to put an end to injustice, living as refugees, and to put an end to the occupation and the siege."
Gaza officials say Israeli gunfire killed at least 7 people and wounded hundreds of others in clashes along the border. Israel's military said it tried to disperse the crowds safely and only fired towards the main instigators. The protest is scheduled to last six weeks.
