The 19th National Congress of the CPC convenes in Beijing on Wednesday. It will review the Party's work over the last five years and put forward proposals and plans for the coming years.
Chinese President Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee, once said that creating an ideal life for people is the ultimate goal of the Chinese government.
Under the leadership of the CPC, the Chinese people have embarked on the development path of socialism with Chinese characteristics. Despite hardships and challenges, China has become the world’s second-largest economy, and the livelihood of its 1.3 billion people has been significantly improved.
Over the past five years, China has not only made many world-class technological achievements, surged ahead in aerospace and aviation, maintained strong employment opportunities for over 12 million young people entering the job market each year, lifted 66 million people out of poverty, but also embraced life online.
CGTN took to the streets of Beijing and asked locals how their lives have been in the past five years and what they expect in the next five.
