Now despite only a few of China's fresh food e-businesses making profits, the transaction volume for the market as a whole, is in fact quite promising.
According to data from iResearch, the country's online fresh food market has developed rapidly, with an average yearly growth, of more than 50 percent. In 2017, China's e-commerce tycoons entered the market, and brought the total transaction volume, to about 140 billion yuan, or 22 billion US dollars. They also provided consumers with new options, with not only fresh food available online, but also pre-cooked food. This in turn has resulted in companies now paying greater attention to user feedback. With about 50 percent of consumers wanting to receive their orders within an hour, increasing the speed of distribution and delivery, will inevitability become a key factor, for all online fresh food companies.
