Xi Jinping has been elected Chinese president and chairman of the Central Military Commission of the People's Republic of China by a unanimous vote at the first session of the 13th National People’s Congress (NPC). "The result is in line with the will of the people," said one of the 2,970 NPC deputies who cast their votes at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Saturday.
